To Die For Mac & Cheese

I have been remiss about getting this post done. Over a month ago, Sara and I met for a planning session and we made the most incredible Mac & Cheese.

I mean, take a look at this beautiful picture.  This mac & cheese is a work of art in a Pyrex casserole.

Here is Sara making the bechamel sauce in my kitchen.  Yes, guests are put to work at my house.  I need someone to assist me since, as you can see in the photo, the dogs are absolutely worthless on that front.

Here's the table all set for our luncheon.  The tablecloth is vintage, however, it was not a thrift store find.  This was a gift to my mom at her wedding shower back in 1960.  She gave it to me several years ago and I love it.  Apparently, though, I don't love it enough to iron it before I put it out.

The Hazel Atlas Moderntone plates were a thrift store find.  Over the summer, I found 4 place settings, but some serving dishes at the Assistance League Thrift Store.  I bought every piece they had and paid about $80.  It was a steal!  The Pyrex casserole came from Goodwill.

Here's a slightly tighter shot of the food.  I provided a bowl of applewood smoked bacon to supplement the mac & cheese.  This stuff is good on it's own, but let's face it, everything is better with bacon.  I also put out some tomatoes so we could say we had something healthy.

Here's my plate right before I dove in.  It's making me crazy to look at it now.  It's probably making you crazy, too.  Because I care and I don't want you to be crazy, you'll find the recipe below.

If you love cheese and you love pasta, give this recipe a shot.  You will not be sorry!
