10 Days Left Until Christmas!
The "Jeweled Duchess Boutique Ornament". No really, that's what it was called. |
Today is my birthday so I decided to take a little break from all my insane retro creativity, and let someone else do the designing. I found this kit on a 10 cent table at a thrift store in Prescott a couple years ago.
Distasio ornament kit. Worth every cent of the dime I paid. |
This seemed like the perfect time to put it together. The instructions were clear as mud, as instructions with these kits often were.
And look at all these other fabulous Distasio ornaments I might find on the dime table at a thrift store someday.
That's it for today. No tutorial, sorry, but here's a hint for you if you find your own ornament kit on a dime table. Actually, here's two hints. Some of these ornament kits sell on eBay for $20-30. If you don't want to make it yourself, you can buy it and go for the profit. You especially want to look for LeeWards and Fibre-Craft kits.
Hint number 2: I use a 1970s-1980s Tupperware craft container when I work with stuff like this. They came in two sizes (at least, I've only ever come across two sizes). They have divided compartments, removable trays, and when the cover is put on, it is on there tight. I come across them quite often at thrift stores. If you don't have one of these, then try dividing your beads, sequins and pins in a muffin pan.
I'll be back tomorrow for Day 16 with another fabulous project for you.
