Scrapbuster No. 13: Doll Furniture

Doll furniture made from matchboxes, fabric scraps, a cereal box, some bamboo skewers and pony beads.
Seems like kids have a lot of toys these days.  Why, in my day, we had no stinking toys!  We played with dirt and an old stick, and we were happy to have that!  If we didn’t make our own, we had nothing!

Well, that’s not exactly true as I do recall having lots of toys, but I do remember that I liked to make my own toys, too.  It’s a great way to get kids crafting and sewing.

The bed is made out of a spray painted cereal box, bamboo skewers, and some beads.  The mattress is a simple pillow filled with fiberfil.

The nightstands are matchboxes covered with fabric scraps with beads for knobs and legs.

On that next snowy or rainy day, take an hour to sit with your kids and see what you can make out of some scraps, cardboard and beads.

  3. This is really cute but the mom in me thinks you could cover those pointy skewers with a permanently-glued bead or polymer clay finial. Good job!
